Datagroup has launched a large-scale project to modernize the Company's extensive, nationwide network, enabling even higher level quality of service. Investments into this project will total $20 million. The Company held a rigorous selection process, vetting best-in-class global equipment manufacturers, and ultimately selected Cisco (USA), the world leader in the production of network equipment, to be Datagroup’s partner and project vendor.
Datagroup is a telecom partner for many of Ukraine’s leading companies. Datagroup’s high-speed data transfer network extends beyond 22,000 km nation-wide. This includes intertoll DWDM and MPLS networks, as well as residential MPLS networks in large cities within Datagroup’s coverage area. This modernization will impact all levels of the network and provide an opportunity to increase bandwidth.
“We continually strive to respond to external changes and meet our clients’ exacting demands. In 2020 alone, the Company's network traffic grew by 35%. We’ve decided to carry out a large-scale network modernization that will support the implementation of our business strategy. This will also set the stage for growth for the next 10 years, enabling various innovative services and attracting new clients from the corporate, public and private sectors,” noted Mykhailo Shelemba, Datagroup CEO.
«We are delighted that Datagroup is partnering with Cisco, an American technology corporation headquartered in San Jose, California, to implement this bold modernization project,” added Lenna Koszarny, Founding Partner and CEO, Horizon Capital. “Ukraine requires large-scale, near-term infrastructure investments throughout the country. We are proud of Datagroup’s commitment to invest in, promote and support the rapid digitalization underway in both the private and public sectors.”
This investment will substantially increase the reliability and availability of services provided: the network topology will be rebuilt by expanding critical geographic nodes and by achieving 100% reservation of any type of traffic - from the client to the network core. This, in turn, will increase the resilience of the network and considerably enhance customer service, as the new services’ tuning speed will increase significantly due to new traffic management systems and services.
"The project will turn our network into one of the most flexible in the Ukrainian telecom market, ensuring rapid response in meeting the needs of our corporate and wholesale customers and partners. For residential users, the Internet connection speed will increase, resulting in minimal delay during peak usage hours. By the end of April, we expect the delivery of equipment to start to allow the first stage of our modernization," said Volodymyr Lutchenko, Datagroup Technical Director.
"We are proud to become a key partner for Datagroup during the implementation of such a significant and large-scale project. Cisco’s network architecture serves as a basis of digital transformations for various countries around the globe. These unique competencies of ours assures us that this project will contribute significantly to the development of the entire telecom infrastructure throughout Ukraine, providing its residents with access to telecom and IT services of higher quality,” said Serhii Martynchuk, Head of Cisco Ukraine.
Cisco is a global IT leader that has been promoting the Internet since 1984. The company's staff, its partners and the solutions being developed provide secure connections for users, allowing them to benefit from the digital technologies of the future, already today.
