The Ukrainian Red Cross Society is the largest humanitarian organization that helps vulnerable segments of the population and develops society's ability to prevent and overcome humanitarian and social crises, accumulating all forces and opportunities to help as many people as possible on the territory of Ukraine.

Activities since the start of a full-scale invasion

From February 24, 2022, the Ukrainian Red Cross Society promptly mobilized all resources and forces, directing them to the needs of the population. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, more than 5,000 volunteers have joined our ranks - they are citizens of Ukraine who want to be useful, want to do good deeds, and help the nation in an extremely difficult time. Therefore, currently, 8,000 volunteers and 500 employees in more than 200 local offices of the Ukrainian Red Cross work for the country and its population:

  • deliver humanitarian aid to those who need it;
  • provide hospitals and communities with generators and heating stoves;
  • train the population to provide first aid and inform them about mine danger;
  • provide psychosocial support;
  • Emergency response team of URC goes to places of the destruction of residential buildings together with the State Emergency Service of Ukraine;
  • risking their own lives and realizing that they are being shot at, evacuating people, and transporting people with reduced mobility from "hot spots";
  • meet citizens at railway stations and border crossing points;
  • local branches of Society arrange places for people who were forced to leave their homes and provide them with the most necessary things;
  • build shelters for the affected population;
  • support people with vouchers and cash payments, including in de-occupied territories.

Help in numbers

from February 24, the Ukrainian Red Cross:

30,455 tons of humanitarian aid was provided throughout Ukraine:

  • 4,019,970 food sets;
  • 1,554,318 hygiene kits;
  • 450 tons of medicines.

voucher assistance in the amount of UAH 152.25 million was provided to 73,840 people:

  • vouchers in the amount of UAH 500 - 6,000 units were distributed;
  • voucher in the amount of UAH 2,200 – 67,840 units were distributed.

assistance was provided in the restoration of damaged housing and the arrangement of temporary:

  • shelter "Unbreakable mothers" in Lviv‎ (two two-story modular houses with an area of 1300 m² for more than 100 pregnant women);
  • modular towns (multi-apartment two-story residential buildings for temporary living with a total area of one building of 685.80 m², built on the territory of Chernihiv (7 houses for 435 people) and Zakarpattia (2 houses for 120 people) regions.

assistance was provided in the form of medical equipment:

  • 44 defibrillators of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia";
  • 250 wheelchairs for 108 railway stations in Ukraine;
  • 6 specialized ambulances for Zaporizhzhya and Sumu regions;
  • 85 units of medical equipment for more than 20 medical institutions.

provided with household appliances for internally displaced persons (within the framework of the project from the Ministry of Regions):

  • 3,367 pieces of household appliances;
  • more than 1,000 social and medical institutions;
  • washing machines - 1042 pcs.;
  • refrigerators - 371 pcs.;
  • microwave ovens - 1867 pcs.;
  • medical freezers - 87 pcs.;
  • equipment of 52 apartments.
  • 307,415 people were evacuated and transported by the Emergency response team of the Ukrainian Red Cross.

87,878 volunteers received first aid training from trainers of the Ukrainian Red Cross.

8,615 people were trained in mine danger, and 2,449 of them were children.

Psychosocial support was provided to 232,374 persons.
