Coca-Cola Will Rebuild Destroyed Kindergarten in Kyiv Region

As part of its ongoing efforts to support the local community and restore Ukraine, Coca-Cola has committed to rebuild a new kindergarten in Bohdanivka village, in the Brovary district.

Bohdanivka belongs to the Velyka Dymerka united territorial community, where the Coca-Cola plant has been operating for almost 25 years. Following the occupation of the local area, which saw a school and a kindergarten destroyed, a damaged hospital the Coca-Cola System will invest USD 1,1 million for the project.

The new kindergarten, which will be designed to accommodate more children than previously, will focus on preschool education and recreation. It will be adapted to ensure the safety of the students and plans include a mandatory safety shelter. Coca-Cola has chosen this facility as a priority investment because the community identified a preschool as their most pressing need.

“Our residents were happy to live in a picturesque area. But fate sent us a terrible test, which we got with dignity. Because our people, authorities, and business united their efforts. Coca-Cola will build a kindergarten for us and loud children's laughter will be heard in Bohdanivka. This is a strong response to the difficulties we faced,” – said Anatoliy Bochkariov, head of Velyka Dymerka village.

Since the first days after the Brovary region liberation, the company has actively worked to restore production, despite the damages to the building. In early May production restarted with consideration for all safety and quality requirements. In addition, the company has maintained the same levels of staff since the beginning of the war.

“In such unprecedented difficult times, we do our best to serve Ukrainian society despite of all obstacles. We have restored the business processes and invest in local community recovery as well,” – commented Constantinos Spanoudis, Coca-Cola HBC in Ukraine, Armenia and Moldova General Manager.

Since the beginning of the conflict, Coca-Cola has supported Ukrainian society. More than 1.14 million liters of company products have been delivered locally to those who need it the most. During this time, Coca-Cola employees have volunteered, both on their own initiative and with the support of the company.

The Coca-Cola Company, its global bottling partners and The Coca-Cola Foundation have committed to contributions amounting to more than $18.5 million to support employees based in Ukraine and wider humanitarian relief efforts. In addition to supporting the local community near its bottling plant, the company is now focused on increasing vital food and water supplies to those in need in Ukraine and providing aid for those displaced.
