More Information

Kyiv International School is a non-profit institution that opened in September 1992. Kyiv International School offers a high quality education in the English language for pre-school, elementary, and secondary students. Approximately 640 students are enrolled for the 2015-2016 school year, representing more than 44 nationalities. Our students come from the diplomatic, international business, and from the Ukrainian communities.

We are accredited with the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA) in the USA and are authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization to offer the IB Diploma. We provide an English language, American-styled educational program for students 2 years of age through secondary 4 (US system grade 12). KIS supports a faculty of qualified classroom teachers as well as specialists in art, physical education, music, French, Spanish, Russian, Ukrainian, German, computer science, and library-media. KIS also offers a full International Baccalaureate Diploma Program leading to an IB Diploma and individual Advanced Placement (AP) courses.

The school occupied their renovated building in May of 2001. The remodeled secondary classroom facilities were opened in August 2004. KIS added an elementary playground, library, two computer labs, music room, art room and staff room during 2007. The building is located in an identified “Green Area” in Kyiv. It is a comprehensive facility located on expansive professionally landscaped grounds including a library/learning center, three fully networked computer labs, modern classrooms all connected to the Internet via wireless networking, science lab, a pre-school wing, art studio, a swimming pool, 2 gymnasiums, a regulations size sports field, a music/drama center, campus snack bar, and a cafeteria. The building has a large indoor atrium spot lighting a tropical garden. The academic program uses a Performance-Based/Mastery Learning approach to learning. This model insures mastery of specific skills and knowledge involving both individual and group instruction.

The educational philosophy is founded upon the premises that:

  1. All students can succeed,
  2. Success breeds success, and
  3. It is the responsibility of the School to provide the conditions for success.

This is a tested, highly successful academic program.
