Abuse of power by law enforcers inflicting illicit pressure on business has always been a painful issue for companies. Any Ukrainian business is subject to searches – that is over 81 000 companies employing from 20 to 200 people. Around 15% of complaints the Business Ombudsman Council received during the four years of its operations is regarding law enforcement agencies' actions. At interactive seminar, the BOC's investigators shared their advanced experience how to best use the Business Ombudsman Council's instruments to protect yourself against illicit actions of law enforcers.

Oleksiy Spivak, Investigator, Business Ombudsman Council. Oleksiy is an expert in criminal and administrative law and procedure, tax and customs legislation and specializes in conducting complex investigations into allegations of business malpractice, including complaints regarding criminal proceedings on white-collar crimes. Also, Oleksiy is a co-author of the Business Ombudsman Council Systemic Report "Abuse of Powers by the Law Enforcement Authorities in their Relations with Business". In the Business Ombudsman Council, Oleksiy is responsible for conducting of the expert group with the General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine and for monitoring of the implementation of the "Mask Show Stop Law".
Andriy Bodnarchuk, Investigator, Business Ombudsman Council. Andriy is an expert in the area of criminal and administrative law and procedure as well as tax law. In the Business Ombudsman Council, Andriy is responsible for the preparation and conduct of expert groups with the Main Investigative Department of the National Police of Ukraine and the Main Investigative Department for Financial Investigations of SFS of Ukraine. The most complex and multi-episodic complaints against law enforcement authorities, lodged with the Business Ombudsman's Council are submitted for consideration of such expert groups.
