Policy Win: State Service for Food Safety & Consumer Protection Clarified the Procedure for Issuance of Written Notices to Phytosanitary Certificates
The American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine welcomes the decision of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection to issues anofficial explanatory letter to its regional branches. The clarification touches upon possibility of providing written notice to phytosanitary certificates and is aimed at preventing unjustified barriers to international grain trade.
Issuance of these written notices to phytosanitary certificates is important for indicating the information required in accordance with terms of trade agreement and a number of other standard documentary formalities in international trade. In particular, documents which could be indicated in a written notice include a bill of lading / mate’s receipt, letter of credit, license, import permit, as well as declared name and address of consignee/NOTIFY, shipper and shipper “for and on behalf of”.
We would like to express our gratitude to the State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection for supporting the business community and to all ChamberMember Companies’ experts who were actively engaged in drafting therespective Chamber Position Paper.
